As it turns out, launching a startup can be quite expensive! There’s a steep price tag on prototyping, website development, marketing, patent process, and just about everything in between. Luckily, Pashion has been able to get some initial funding with no strings attached, thanks to the Cal Poly Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship’s annual Elevator Pitch Competition!
Back in November 2016, Founder Haley Pavone successfully held her own through two rounds of competitive pitching to make the event finals; a live, 90-second pitch presentation in front of a judges panel and an audience of several hundred people. In that short time, she sold everyone on the Pashion Footwear concept, winning both the judge’s and audience choice awards. Her win secured a $1,500 prize of equity-free funding to help get Pashion off the ground. It was the first of what will hopefully be many victories to come.
